For
a long time I’ve been fascinated with travel by water and travel destinations
that one way or another center around water. That having been said,
it is a surprise to some that watertravel.com isn’t about luxury
cruises. To be honest, I’m more interested in ships and boats as transportation. As
we expand, there will be stories on ferry trips here and there, canal barges,
freighters, various kinds of indigenous craft, and much more. As well as trips
by sundry watercraft, the focus of watertravel.com is on ports and other
waterside locations, especially those which are reachable by water or offer interesting
options to travel by water. Future sections will appear on the Val de Loire in
central France, the Mendocino Coast in California, the Nicaraguan lakes and coastline,
the rest of the East Friesland Islands plus Helgoland, and much more. This Web
site is a hobby, so I hope regular visitors will be patient with the time it takes
to add new sections.
My
wife, a native of Germany who lived for years in California, is responsible for
the German text. It is not always a direct translation, since, particularly in
discussing some European topics, information that is appropriate to tell an American
would be patently obvious to a German.
Thanks
for your interest in watertravel.com . We hope you enjoy it.
