Village Procession
The kettuvallam boatmen poled us steadily south through the shallow backwater that stretches between Alappuzha and Kollam. As we came to a coir village, we stopped. By coincidence, a religious procession arrived by canoe from across the water and went through the village pausing at house after house to give blessings and collect donations.
The chief priest wore, as you can see, an impressive hat.
