![]() We took the Kleinbahn as far as the Jagdschloss, or “hunting castle.” Actually, the train stop at Jagdschloss Granitz is a good hike downhill from the castle. You can opt to walk up the cobblestone path or take a horse-drawn cart. They also have the kind of mock trains you see pretty much everywhere there are tourists. We opted for the hike. Inside the Jagdschloss are some interesting artwork and artifacts, including chairs made from antlers. The castle’s main draw is the steep spiraling climb up the inside of the central tower to enjoy the sweeping panoramic views from its turret roof. The stairway is quite narrow, so the number of people allowed to go up at a time is limited. They ascend, single file, and another group goes up after they have descended. The stairway is made of a see-through metal grating, so those who have a problem with heights might prefer casually strolling around the castle grounds and viewing the art creations in its rooms and corridors. |
